Like all town parish churches, our churchyard has been closed for burials for many years, but we are still pleased to hold funerals and memorial services in our church building, and our clergy will also officiate at funerals at local crematoria and cemeteries on request. Legally, if you live in the parish of Stamford Baron, or happen to die here, then you are entitled to a funeral at St Martin's, but in practice we normally offer funerals for any family who asks. When arranging a funeral with your funeral director, simply tell them that you'd like a funeral at St Martin's or that you'd like a priest from St Martin's to officiate at the cremation or burial and we shall do our best to respond.
Although we no longer bury coffins in the churchyard, we do have an area set aside in the churchyard for the burial of ashes, so if you are interested in having the ashes of a loved one interred in St Martin's churchyard, please enquire either when arranging the funeral or at a later date.
There are statutory fees for Church of England funeral services which are the same at every parish church, but the cost of extras such as an organist or a bell vary from church to church. Your funeral director will normally deal with these on your behalf.
